Can't the Arabs remember to pray 5 times a day?

Maybe they could issue Arab PDA's announce prayer time and repeat the prayers....headset optional.

Possible good product for QVC and Al Jezeera TV?

Anyone know what the policy is if someone employs an Arab. Do they get prayer time plus Arab and Federal Holidays?

They do indeed...Here in New York, muslim children had a "room" set aside for them during Ramadan. Of course, it was a prayer room.

Most Muslim just look a their watches or the clock at work. A friend of mine who's a doctor actually has his beeper timed to buzz him when it's time. I once met a business man who showed me his watch which not only had an alarm but a compass, so no matter where he is in the world, he'll know where and when to pray.

The point isn't noise pollution, however; the larger issue here is the constitutionally guaranteed separation of church and state which is being broached here. Announcing prayers over the loudspeaker in a public municpality is an even greater violation of this principle than leading prayer at sports games, or in the schools.

Heh, myself, being an amateur radio buff and electronics nut in general, I would have preferred this solution. The FCC is now allowing low powered neighborhood FM stations to broadcast, sort of like a community station. Well, why don't the mosque get an FCC license, buy a 10 watt FM transmitter, and broadcast the call to prayer. The Moslems could leave an FM radio on with the frequency dial set to that station and when it comes time to prayer, they can broadcast it over FM radio instead of 1500 decibels over the neighborhood to wake up people and shake their fillings out.

I think a similar idea was used in the UK during the Blitz where the people set their radios onto a station broadcasting just the carrier signal (just broadcasting a silent signal) and when the bombers were coming then the warning would be broadcast. I think Israel has a similar system too.
