Were did Norte Mexicanos acquire the love of the accordion? Is it an Old Country leftover? I think it was introduced by German immigrants in the 1800's. Tejanos just took it to a whole new level. There are quite a few German colonies (towns) in Texas...like Fredrickburg, Comfort, Ingrahm, Shiner, New Braunfels, etc. You have to go to Texas sometime and see it. Stay in San Antonio...along the Riverwalk of course...then drive to Fredricksburg and indulge on all things German. It will blow you away.

We had a deer lease in that area for years. I wondered if the accordion entered Mex-Music from that wellspring....makes sense.
I wonder if the accordion is prominant in Catalan or Andalusian or other Spanish genres. The southern French like to incorporate the accordion as well.

Accordion introduced by Czechoslovokian immigrants too who gravitated to the Texas area. Not just the Germans.
