"Just walked about a mile...a slow one albeit but I feel pretty good."

Holy cow.
Is that an outstanding testimonial of a remarkable recovery, or what?

Just goes to show wardaddy, you're work here on ol' terra firma?
It ain't nearly finished, which has gotta be the best news of all.

...for the rest of us. ;^)

It's a monstrous pleasure to see Randy Rhoads ahead of E.V.H.!!! As an obsessed music lover, and one who attended 3 "Ozzy/Randy/Sarzo/Aldridge/Don Airey" shows in 1981 (and the best show of my life at the time) The Dec 31,1981 New Years Eve show here in L.A. at the L.A. Sports Arena (I still own the shirt w/ the date on the back and the smiling skeletons' eyeball in the wine-glass w/ 3 white stripes on each shirt sleeve, but I digress) I can honestly say that Randy Rhoads was by far the most underrated guitarist of the 80's. 2 Vinyl Albums. (And thank god for giving us the internet s we can acquire all the live shows he played---where one can hear how his left hand was in "absolute sick synchronicity" w/ his right picking hand, think other-worldly) A true loss to the future of the guitar and I await the future date to meet St. Peter and learn why he was removed from earth so early. Some things I simply won't ever understand until then.

There, I've wanted to say that out loud for years.

No Allan Holdsworth, either.

No SH_T!!! No Frank Gambale either! I got to see F.G. (first night) then A.H. (the next night)live 2 sets each night w/ their respective trio's in a 24 hour period last month at the Baked Potato here in L.A.---Talk about experiencing pure joy!

Great to see you back here. Can't keep a good man down. Especially one with such a lovely wife to take care of him in time of need.

Not a very exclusive list of the "top" 100, still, John Denver, Lindsey Buckingham, and Joan Baez were left off the list, and those three could kick the @ss of anyone on that list.

This should create an interesting conversation.

Everybody in Britain that picked up a guitar before 1970 that is on this list, has listened to The Shadows, where Hank Marvin reigned supreme. Eric,Jeff,Keith,Jimmy Page,Pete,Iommi...(Heck even Michael Schenker AND Randy Rhoads even claimed him as an influence)---all of them.I may be in my mid 30's, but Hank Marvin of the Shadows contribution to guitar is much much LARGER than people realize.

Lindsey Buckingham, yes. The man can flat out play. He can hang with the best of them.

But, John Denver?
Joan Baez?

Get hold of some live recordings of them on the accoustic guitar. As someone who plays the accoustic classical guitar, I'm telling you, I think Denver and Baez could kick your @ss.

IIRC, Hank Marvin owned the first Strat in Britain. It immediately became a must-have guitar for hundreds of budding players.

His influence in Britain was enormous. Virtually every British guitarist, from Clapton to Beck and even Syd Barret, claimed Marvin as a major influence.

If you've seen the magazine you'd know, this is a HEAVY METAL list exclusively, which goes along with the theme of the issue for this month. Which is why David Gilmour, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, etc aren't on it.

Now any list that purported to be of the greatest ALL TIME players that didn't have these guys in the top 10, would be laughable in my opinion.

Poland was a better guitarist than Friedman.

You bet he is, and I get to see his Fusion band twice a month here in L.A. ( for the last 3 years) and I'm going again tonight.

If you ever have time go to this link. He's a monster guitar player who's only gotten better and better. His Bassist Robertino Pagliari plays 6 string Fretless Bass and he has Kofi Baker (Yes, Gingers Son)on Drums and they have it going on HARD!
