...I just noticed: no Jeff Skunk Baxter!!!

Arguably a different genre of music. Thanks for pointing out Howe vs. Anderson. Brain fade on my part.

Steve Howe, the primary guitarist for Yes, does indeed deserve to be on that list. Fripp is one of my all time favorites.

Absolutely. ....Add them both to my above list.

Walter Becker

Very tasteful player. No wasted notes, no muddy tones.

That Rolling Stone list may be flawed, but it beats the Guitar World Mag list by a country mile.

What about BB King or Brian Setzer?

Yes to both. King for obvious reasons (he's a top 10 guy), but Setzer is often overlooked. His unique sound can be partly attributed to the guitar he plays -- a 1957 Gretsch Duo Jet. That thing twangs like a Tele or rocks like a Les Paul .....all within the same song, if need be. But guitar aside, Setzer just shreds .....incredible control of his instrument, and tuneful as all get-out.

And THAT'S what makes Lindsey one of the best. I saw him with Fleetwood Mac last year, and when he opened for Tina Turner some years ago. The man is truly underrated as a guitarist. And for him to play that thing so passionately and STILL lead sing? Incredible. Lindsey deserves the plaudits from his peers.

Steve Wariner. Great guitar, and a gentleman, too.

I was thinking of Ricky Skaggs (listen to "Hummingbird" sometime!) and whoever the heck plays guitar for Alan Jackson and Dwight Yoakam. Interesting stuff, and some fast pickin'. :)
