Actually, Mohammed and his earliest followers were bandits who uesd to rob/murder/rape/ passing caravans (all with Allah's blessing). Mohammed took 20% of the take off the top and his followers split the rest. His followers grew when it became obvious that Islam was a license to steal. Islam is what you would get if Charles Manson founded a major religion.
