You're getting yourself all worked up over nothing. I'm not trying to make pronouncements on the relative worth of the various factions vis-a-vis the slavery issue. The moral issue of slavery was completely different from the political and economic issues--indeed, it's difficult for us to judge ninteenth century attitudes by our own standards. But the economic and political considerations were concentrated in the South, and it was the South that decided that the perpetuation of slavery was an issue that trumped every other consideration.
that even the damnyankee leadership said until 1863 that the WBTS was ONLY about "preserving the union".
ONLY when it appeared that the south would win, did the war become a crusade against slavery!
no less a person than GEN U S Grant said,
"had the late war been to preserve the institution of chattel slavery,i would have offered my swords to the south."
also note, U S Grant was STILL holding slaves himself in 1866!
face it, from the north's perspective the WBTS was only about CONQUEST & POLITICAL ADVANTAGE. nothing more, nothing less.
i get myself "worked up" over something======>92 of MY family were MURDERED for no reason except they were NOT white, by the "filth in blue that came down from the north"! and YOU are trying (poorly i might add!) to justify the war of conquest against the new southern nation.
that's why.
