Ouch! - Steele Calls Rush's CPAC Speech "Incendiary, Ugly" (video)

RNC Chair Michael Steele on CNN's DL Hughley show last night... I think the correct message would have been along the lines of "I'm the political leader of the party, but Rush delivers our message with punch and humor every day to millions of Americans..." Oh well.

No, he did not offend Rush. In his speech Rush made it clear he has no time for that sort of thing. He really does not care what the libs think..he is on the offense to defend this country against a totalitarian regime that is trying to establish itself before our eyes. Something has to be done to stop this but what and how? I shudder at the thought of the damage this creep can cause in 4 short years..and what makes anyone think that there will actually be any national elections in 4 years once the coup d’etat is completed? 0bama is working swiftly with his plans..makes me wonder sometimes if Hitlery was not in on this at the outset and went along with it staying in the campaign for cover...

Only watched a few minutes of Steele with Hughley, but was disappointed in everything I heard - Hughley took out after ‘pubs for not having more elected blacks in their party - I forgot what Steele’s lame comeback was, but he should have pointed out that two years ago he and two other blacks ran for high-level elected offices on the Republican ticket and all three lost - the lack of elected black Republicans is not because the ‘pubs won’t nominate blacks, but because Hughley and the rest of his black ilk won’t vote for anyone who doesn’t call himself a Democrat - Steele just doesn’t have a feel for sticking up for the party as it should be represented.....

What we are witnessing is dangerous. I’m not sure to whom you are referring to. Rush will not run for office, he get’s negative points from me from that. I like the guy, but he makes it clear that he is a talking head. I should duck now...

Steele is a professional politician - he has aspirations of a “higher calling”... and he feels his best way of doing that is to distance himself from those that the “all important” centrists might be offended by- namely - Rush and his nack for stating the truth in a rather brash and “in-your-face” way...

Steele is not going to guide the Repubs back into power any more than Obama’s spending is going to bring the US Economy back... Two pickles from the same barrel in my book. I have no use for either.

“Rush Limbaugh is not a principle.”

Why would you think that I thought that Rush is a “principle”? I am fully aware that a person cannot be a principle.

“As Steele said, Rush is an entertainer.”

Obviously more than that to the Marxists and the “nice-guy” right that obsesses with him.

The pansy-ass conservatives can’t even go to bat for A PRIVATE CITIZEN under attack and intimidation by The Kenyan and his flying socialist monkeys—THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES IS TARGETING A PRIVATE CITIZEN...HELLO! Is anyone out there? Echo check!

“Rush is a talking-head that gets to preach to the choir everyday.”

Good, then the Kenyan should feel comfortable pulling his rabid dogs into the house and leaving the private citizen alone.

“Steele has another, far more complex task to complete.”

Pobrecito! He’s there to represent and serve his party.

There is nothing at all complex about building a listenership of 15+ million every week, is there?

Most full-o-crap politicians dream of just a few hundred people listening to their calculated drivel on a regular basis. This makes him the envy of these power-thirsty pols, doesn’t it? Petty little power-grubbing betas!

He’s a threat to the left because he is has influence with the people. He’s a threat because the people listen, and the people learn, and then they resist the power mongers—just like Americans should.

If The Kenyan isn’t envious, he isn’t half-white.

“I have yet to hear what principle Steele compromised or what issue he betrayed us on.”

Yeah, me either, but the news would not surprise.

“We do not need a cult of personality, we already have Obama.”

Could not agree more.

“Conservatives can’t put themselves into the position of having to defend everything Limbaugh says or does.”

I do not believe that anyone is demanding this much. But calling him “reactionary” and saying his statements at CPAC were “ugly”?

I challenge Steele, and all “nice-guy”, pansy-ass conservatives out there to tell me what part of Rush’s speech was “ugly”?

You easily offended Americans are two shakes away from being liberals, aren’t you?

I would bet that you get offended at the remarks of our “reactionary” founders, don’t you? I bet you cringe at their boldness and bravery—barbaric stuff, no?

How dare those private American citizens speak their minds into a microphone!

How dare those other private American citizens gather and lend an ear!

Get where we’re goin’ here?

I’d go to war to defend Rush. Not because of his name or his ‘EIB’ but BECAUSE HE IS A PRIVATE CITIZEN WITH A MICROPHONE SPEAKING HIS MIND and by ATTACKING and blatantly trying to INTIMIDATE him they are DOING THE SAME TO ME.

I WILL NOT STAND FOR IT!!!!!

Go ahead, betas, poke your little twigs at this hornets nest.

Until I know what Michael Steele actually said, I will hold my fire. I would suggest that the only way to clear the air would be for Rush to give Steele the opportunity to have a conversation with him regarding his remarks. Millions of Republican listeners would be interested in getting to know the new RNC leader a little better. I hope I do not have to rethink my support for Michael. I also do not want Obama to succeed for the same reasons as Rush has articulated. Obama is a socialist and is bent on destroying this Republic. Why on earth would any American citizen throw away their freedom to become a slave of the state-—it boggles the mind.

I heard that interview with Mike Gallagher, and had the same reaction. Steele was sounding like a real conservative. Now, I'm very disappointed.

Rush said things that needed to be said, and is rallying conservative America.

The socialists are wresting our country from us. And Steele apparently thinks we can win it back by playing nice. This stuff makes me PANIC. What Rush says makes me THINK.

Excellent letter. I am truly disappointed in Steele - just another RINO after all.

Hell, you are preaching to the choir. I didn’t want Steele and was more than a little wary about playing identity politics, which I believe this was to some degree.

My point is Steele is what we have and knee-jerk reactions are not productive. Creating mountains out of what I believe to be molehills is no way to destroy this Socialism foisted up us.

I would rather leave the in-fighting to the Rats. I don’t believe Rush needs me or anyone else to defend him and have to think he loves the Obama administration attacks.

It is the best thing to happen to him since Clinton was elected. I am not totally without understanding the frustration Conservatives are dealing with and have dealt with for some time. I wanted Bush to speak out and defend himself many times, but he rarely did. The Socialists lied and lied, and Bush sat and took it, rarely responding until it became the truth.

I am more a Reagan Republican, probably a little more Conservative than he, but I liked his tactful, always polite, cool and calm way of articulating his message. He was elected twice. Therein lies the difference, one who is elected or needs to be elected contrasted with one who only needs to commentate and analyze. There are things one can say and the other can not. If one is seen as a radical hothead, he is finished. The other, it brings in more listeners.

Had I been any of these Republicans I would have asked, “What does Rush have to do with the state of this economy and the Socialist policies Obama and the rats are rushing through congress?” Their intent was obvious and Cantor and Steel should have both known better. Like I said, I don’t see anything they said as a big deal and I have my doubts that Rush will.

Rush sometimes says things that are factually correct, but politically stupid, and that’s okay. That is what he does and it fires up the troops. Steele might have said as much. This will all be forgotten as 2010 rolls around and I was a little disappointed to such a good Conservative like Cantor trashed. Steel not so much............but cooler heads will always prevail. That’s what I was trying to get across. All I want is to see Rats moving back home from Washington in 2010 and Obama’s a$$ looking for a good moving company in 2102. Then maybe we can begin to take back our Republic.

Steele did use the words “incendiary” and “ugly” but it was not clear to me what he meant by them, since the interviewer kept interrupting him. If that video clip is all there is to this, it adds up to nothing.

He will start sending out the fundraising letters pretty soon. I suggest we send it back with a little note as to why we won’t be giving this time.

You shouldn’t be disappointed in Steele. I mean it is not really news that he is a “RINO”. I mean we all knew he was a moderate from the start, right?

Man, it seems only yesterday that I was seeing Palin/Steele and before that Thompson/Watts. Now it is Palin/Jindal. Identity politics is destructive and never works. It is these knee-jerk reactions that get Conservatives in the mess that they find themselves in. Most people touting these people already as “their man or woman” for 2012 likely know very little about them and where they stand on issues. Do you see how we get Steele now? Not that Steele is horrible but we could have done far better.

Yes, Steele *is* horrible- Exactly more-of-the-same. Just another moderate, cast in the mold of Bush/McCain and all the rest. There will be no change in the Republican direction at all. the Moderates retained control of the leadership, and therefore will continue to fund RINOs and suppress true Conservatism. They will pay lip service, utter Reagan's name, but nothing will change.

Until the GOP demands Conservatism, it will continue to have socialism.

“What does Rush have to do with the state of this economy and the Socialist policies Obama and the rats are rushing through congress?”

Exactly.

Oh, and “cooler heads” do not always prevail. There are way too many “cool heads” that need wiser heads and need to grow a pair.

Sometimes “cool” doesn’t fit the cicumstance.

“Cool” is not what we should get from anyone, especially a man, who is forced to defend their natural rights.

A thinking head usually prevails.

But a thinking man who is pissed off is the one I’d put my money on.

Reagan was a giant in this department—and people respected him.

“I paid for that microphone...”

heh, Howdy, Roamer. The nomination of McCain pulled the parameters left just as I thought it would. The powers that be will interpret that to mean we need to go farther left not that we need a real Conservative.

Not that it matters as Republicans wouldn’t know a real Conservative if one bit them on the a$$. We saw that in action during the primaries.

Too bad, Steele has his good moments. But, he just doesn’t get it. Why he is on the Hughley show was his first problem.

This is the Rush that encouraged me in 1996 to start my own business.... not personally, but through his ability to inspire.
I liked Michael, but now am questioning his vision. He needs to get on the bus.... as well as the other GOP leaders... or it will leave them sitting at the station. We are moving ahead and this Republic WILL be defended and allowed to continue and flourish.... with or without the help of RINOS.
