Just a thought, cuz we were trying to think what would be important enough that Israel would take a chance on attacking a US Ship. IMHO, that would be worth the risk.

I agree. I don't know when our intel figured out that the Israelis had actually built a bomb. In the early sixties we just knew they had a reactor and were working on a program. In 1967 we may not have known they acutally had an assembled weapon.
