Great story, snippy. John Browning was a GENIUS! Another common use in WWII for the "Ma Deuce" was armament for the B-17 and B-24 bombers. The most dangerous place of all was the ball turret.

I got to see the ball turret on the B-17 at the museum when I visited SAM in Oregon. What a sight that plane is!

don't be too sure. the TAILGUNNER on a 17 was a BAD place to be.
the father one of my best girlfriends in HS days was TSgt Houston Burkhardt, a former B17 tailgunner of the USAAC. he was the ONLY member of his gunnery class to survive the war= one of 188 BRAVE men!
