Yes, Omar was a good general. However, for my money it was Patton who was very much underutilized. If Patton's ideas for exploiting the 24 hours after Overlord's initial successes had been implemented, it is entirely possible that the Allies would have been at the Rhine within 10 days.

If you really think about some of then things PAtton did tat got hoim into trouble, he could be the US's first General who had problems with not being "PC" enough

Certainly the first since the beginning of the 20th century. Although U.S.S. Grant was under fire for being a drunkard.
To: Frumious Bandersnatch
He may have been a drunkard but he got the job done.

True, my point being that he wasn't very PC at the time
To: Frumious Bandersnatch
Yep. Being PC doesn't get the job done. We need more un-PC generals and politicians.

I don't care if you are PC as long as you are right. However, if history is anything to go by, being PC (or politically expedient as it used to be called) and being right are generally diametrically opposed.
To: Frumious Bandersnatch
My big problem with PC is that it causes more problems and doesn't solve the original problem. In the Military, being too PC gets people killed.

It hasn't stopped.
The pinglist is "under new management". We lost some people from the pinglist. I can have you put back on if you'd like.
