I had a close friend whose familiy was military stationed in Cuba at the time. They were secreted out while this was playing out. No lights were allowed on the ship. She said it was really frightening as a little kid. I think she was 10 years old at the time.

When she grew up, she joined the military and retired as a Chief Master Sargeant :o)
