My dad was in the Navy in the Pacific Theater toward the end of WWII. The final nuclear assaults on Japan saved his life, I have no doubt.

Interesting-I'd never heard of the Baka being used to attack B-29s, just ships.
The B-29 mining campaign was also an interesting story. The Air Force did not want the mission, which they saw as a distraction from strategic bombing, but they took it to keep the Navy from getting its own long range bombers. To the Air Force's surprise, the mining was a great success.
I recommend Kennth P. Werrel's "Blankets of Fire" for further reading on the B-29 campaign against Japan.
