Outstanding, Sam. What these soldiers went through just boggles the mind. In addition to all that you have posted here, disease took more soldiers as bullets did. According to "Civil War Trivia and Fact Book" by Webb Garrison, the North had about twice as many deaths from disease as from wounds (224,850:110,100) and the South almost twice as many (164,000:94,000).

Thanks humal, with medicine in the state it was back then a lot of minor wounds either ended in an amputation or became infected and lead to death.
