If the knowledge is not passed on to the next generation it will be lost. This is why many traditions are no longer around.

My mother-in-law is hanging the star for my young whipper-snapper brother in law, who was called up for Naval Reserve duty.
I saw the Korean War Memorial last summer. The main entrance is from the rear, which presents an unfortunate perspective. Viewed from the front, the memorial is inspiring, showing an infantry advance through a rice paddie.
