Howdy AJ-
No that wasn't me that posted that story about the racoon and the flightline. Funny stuff though.
During the early seventies, ...that's 1970's not 1870's ...:), Uncle Sam experimented with numerous animals for securing primeters and searches. Shepards are good dogs but not the only animal with a good nose or extremely sharp hearing. I saw some tiny, otherwise limited use dogs, do some incredible sniffing jobs for explosives and drugs. And when it comes to sounding off about intruders, dogs will take a poisoned bait... geese won't and they won't shut up either ! :) Live and learn.

This was just one air wing so 30 million sories may not really be too high

Good to know my hearing may still be intact SAM, as I'm pretty sure that was the figure they was mentioned on the program and it extended to every type of sorie flown.

BTW, the pics of the planes are incredible, along with the stories.

Have you ever tried to sneak past a flock of geese ??
Even one alone seems possessed with uncanny senses .
And they get an 'attitude'...no they are BORN with a bad attitude ! :)
