Fan of WW2 Fighter Aircraft?

I have been working at an Airport in N.C. the last two days. This beauty is actually 3/4 scale. I dont know the owners name, but he did build it himself in his garage, and I did get to watch him fly it for quite a while!
(and thats me, with the potbelly, standing beside it!




Some of the other planes there. Some of which are owned by F-15 / 16 Fighter Pilots at Seymour-Johnson AFB. The Canard wing is owned by a VERY nice Pilot who spent some time explaining and answering my questions!

That's gotta be 1/2 scale. Not that I don't like it, but a full scale F4U is more than twice that size.

Love those planes. Am watching 'Heavy Metal' and P-38's in battle protecting a B-25 bombing run. Great aerial footage.

Last time I was at El Toro (before it was closed) they had an F4U in their air museum. I hope all that stuff was moved to North Island.... (or was it Miramar?)

My father was very fond of those gull ~ winged aerocraft . That 'lil guy looks sweet ! My other favourites during that era are the B-17's & the P-51 .
