Do not know a lot. Have made, in the past, an essential oil mixture which contained wintergreen, ginger, black pepper and something else - would have to search - to apply for ongoing arthritis pain for a friend. Worked for some, not for others.
In addition, here is an alternative medicine website which contains many different chronic pain relief items to try when needed pain medication is not forthcoming.

Suggest as always to do own research.
Note: There exists research demonstrating the use of very large doses of Vitamin C to reduce opiod withdrawal symptoms.
Peppermint oil was also in the mixture.
There was something else too . . .
I believe you are dangerously wrong. Untreated chronic pain leads to higher suicide rates. Cancer pain - get your chi stimulated, massive trauma from an IED - yoga.
Do you have any exceptions for your rather one sided belief.
Grow your own poppies.
Carlin was right, “I bet ya, if we still called it ‘Shell Shock’, Veterans would get the help they needed.”
Got a call from the “pain management” pukes at the VA a few days ago.
Him: “We don’t prescribe opiates for chronic pain any more.”
Me: “You do realize that you will burn in Hell for all eternity for perpetrating that great moral evil.”
Him: “We have lots of alternatives to opiates.”
Me: “No, you don’t. You have snake oil and hipster doofus woo-woo. That may allow you to pretend you have helped your patients, but your patients aren’t fooled.”
Him: “We are preventing suicides.”
Me: “Really? How many vets are committing suicide because you refuse to provide them effective pain control?”
Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
A small amount of Helichrysum oil was also in the mix. It is extracted from a species of daisy, I believe.
It is too bad they cannot seem to get that into some physical therapists and Doctors heads. Get so tired of being sent to PT because the nerve damage in a leg that had 25% of the thigh muscle vaporized causes excruciating spasm/cramping at times that take sometimes an hour to walk off. Get to live with the pain walking around in the middle of the night trying to be quiet unable to sit lay down or stop moving. Then if mentioned to the Doc get sent to therapy that puts you thru exercise regimens that do nothing because you can't exercise scar tissue and turn it into muscle.
