Eight good men died to ensure Carter would lose big time in 1980.

It was a classic case of micromanagement by Carter and could only have succeeded has everything gone right. Dust storms in the Middle East in April? Who knew?

The military had suggested a much larger force in the beginning, but Carter stripped it down to the bare minimum because he didn't want to appear provocative.

Thanks for your service. It must have been gut wrenching for all of you to know that the rescue attempt probably would have succeeded without the Carter micromanagement hamstringing you.

Thank you. I was manned up on a missile radar that night. What I remmember most is thinking about obvious loss of life and how tragic for families that would not find out the truth. That was a loss that was unnecessary. Carter was trying to win reelection. I loathe liberals.

Most all of us old men, I the youngest at the dinner at 55, the pilots all 70 almost
