The .gov is developing senior housing for Vets 55+ and their spouses on the site of the former Ft. Howard VAMC, Maryland. There is currently a clinic in operation. Many of the historical buildings will be renovated, including the WWI era Victorian style homes.
There is no entrance 'fee'. It will be a Continuing Care Retirement Community with independent living through to skilled nursing.
A waiting list of about 400 is currently in place. They are talking about 1500+ units (houses, apts, rooms). Anticipated occupancy is in about 2 years. Rental fees are listed on the web site.
The VA clinic will be expanded to address health needs of residents and spouses.
What is the URL for the website??
Sounds wonderful.
Was one of my grandiose fantasies to build such a place.
Alas, I've always given away more than I should have to even take care of myself properly. Doesn't help one's grandiose fantasies.
