(BTW, Mike Fossum is Texas Aggie Class of '80)
from my Aggie newsletter: Aggie Astronaut Returns Safely From Mission Mike Fossum '80 and the rest of the Space Shuttle Discovery crew landed safely at NASA's Kennedy Space Center on July 17, following a mission that by all accounts was a resounding success. Fossum, a mission specialist, participated in three separate spacewalks during the 13-day, five million-mile journey, along with fellow astronaut Piers Sellers. The primary purpose of the mission-just the second to take place since the Columbia tragedy of 2003-was to test safety improvements on the shuttle and perform work on the International Space Station. For more on Fossum and the mission, named STS-121, go to www.nasa.gov or see our feature in the upcoming Texas Aggie magazine.
