The early MRE's were a big improvment over the C-Rats. They started changeing them later and got into more "PC" food and took away most of the good stuff. The worst one was the dried hamburger/pork patty, that was inedible no matter whjat you did to it.

The dried hamburger patty MRE was the best of them all. If you just followed the instructions to rehydrate it, they tasted just like the flame broiled patties on burger king burgers. i used to trade my m&ms for those dehydrated beef patties. the worst one of the lot was the omelette. of course, they have some now that are much worse than that.
