These very first Amtraks were, are, very important machines. Saved many good Marines.
Think how useful one thousand of these machines would have been on D-Day, especially later models armored to withstand small arms fire and artillery splinters.
The 75mm howitzer model would have come in handy.

Happy Treadhead Tuesday, folks. Definitely my favorite of the week.
Most of the equipment our troops had in WWII was first rate, like these amtracks. Now, if we just could have built a better main battle tank . . . .
