The case can be made that the 1939-45 affair happened because the German Army could claim that they were never defeated in the field. Well, they hadn't been. So, whose fault was it, this disaster of defeat? Since the Army had never been defeated, who had lost the war?
Well, the General who told the Kaiser it was all over, told him to abdicate, was Jewish.
The Allies kept up the sea blockade of Germany until 1921, three years after the armistice, and millions of Germans wondered if they would join the hundreds of thousands who had starved to death after the war. There were wealthy people living gilded lives in Germany, purchasing assets with floods of money. They were considered to be Jews, and doubtless many were. The legend spread that the war was lost by sabotage in the home front, sabotage by Communists and Jews. "The German soldier was stabbed in the back!"
We all know this story well. During the second phase of the German War, 1939-45, the American command structure came to believe that Hitler was a product of the Armistice, and that the monstrous 1939-45 war was caused by not going on until unconditional surrender in 1918-19. In hindsight the Armistice was a bad idea. Offer the German's unconditional surrender. Keep pounding them until they took the offer.
On a personal note, I came to see that a man is just like a rifle cartridge, having existence, having a purpose, just like a rifle cartridge has - the round of ammunition and the man have meaning only by being expended.

WWII was a continuation of WWI.
The Korean War also ended in an armistice and not a peace treay. The same with Gulf War I. The last time we "defeated" an enemy was WWII.
