Take a bath and what happens? You get dirty again that's what. It's a vicious cycle I tell ya.
JUST SAY NO.

List of 24 map enlargements from 1740 Map of St. Simons

The brains of the operation lived on St. Simons, reporting that the humidity was beyond description.

The Capture of Porto Bello by Martyn Wade, performed by Stephen Noonan.

In 1739 as part of the war of Jenkin's Ear, six ships commanded by Admiral Vernon succeeded in doing just what he had promised he could do - taking the Spanish Main silver exporting town of Porto Bello (in present day Panama).

A national hero was born and streets and urban developments were named after the town.

Captain Jenkins was a merchant sailor who had lost an ear to a brutal Spanish coastguard who had boarded his ship in the Caribbean to roughly enforce local trading rules the Spanish were operating around their South American colonies.

Our sailor in this programme was one of the few casualties of the revenge attack on Porto Bello and lost his legs - so the legless man talks in his head to the earless Captain Jenkins and scenes from the wars of trade that dogged the English navy through the C18th come to life.

After a few days as a local hero on his return to England our invalid sailor is forced to beg to survive. And soon the country's attention has gone elsewhere even if a few streets carry the name of Porto Bello.

With historical commentary from Richard Harding and Michael Duffy.

Evening Phil Dragoo.

Sometimes I wonder if Georgians know there was a history of their State before 1860.

"Being the target of projectile vomit in real life isn't as funny as it is on Monty Python"

That could be your new tagline. On the postive side, it washes out.

I hope she feels better soon.

I would expect that might be true for older folks. For kids coming along today, they probably don't teach much history of the period before 1960.

That's even sadder.
