Last time I flew, our pilot was a Hot Dog former Air Force pilot.
There was a solid cloud deck, and they kept telling us that they may have us circle around.
Our pilot spots a hole in the cloud deck and punches through it.
So from their point of view in the tower, this 727 comes screaming out of the loud deck, pulls up, and then comes in on final.
This was coming into Atlanta, Georgia on December 18th 1996, a little after 9 in the morning.
Odd thing: the passengers loved the hat trick he pulled.
Nowadays, people would flip about that kind of 'stunt'.
