What was the "cornfield" like. That and the sunken road sound like 2 places I want to see.Seeing the battlefield in person allows you to touch and feel the written history that we know. The cornfield is there and thick as well as tall, you can see the strategic areas and how the terrain played an important role. The sunken road will bring tears to your eyes. You can 'feel' the enormity of it all.

Thanks, I hope to make it out there one of these day. Stephen Sears book, "Landscape Turned Red", is a very good book on Antietam.
