Star Spangled Baghdad

I returned in September 2003 to a radically different Baghdad. During the first week, four months after the end of "Major Combat Operations", I was drawn into a massive firefight in downtown Baghdad. Later, a soldier would comment with a grin, "We call this minor combat".

The emails and the Sat phones helped them stay in touch with family, but all the technology in the world couldn't bring them home.
