Wouldn't it be a hoot to drive that lunar dunebuggy??? Only downside is it didn't look like there were any lunar bicyclespankentruppen there for security.

Afternoon, PE. Amazing how good that lunar set on the sound stage was, eh? :) Yep, it's too bad NASA had to let those guys go. They got with Hollyweird, and made that terrible Capricorn One movie.

Brazen chariots is an excellent nonfiction work about British crews that operated American M3 light tanks in the western desert in WWII. Robert Crisp describes the action of the daily battle (swanning about the blue) as well as the activity in the evening when men of battle attempt to get some rest while the mechanics and fitters prepare the armour for another day's battle. Major Crisp tells it like it was- the humor and the sadness. He daringly retells his own combat decisions and the results (which are not always flattering to himself). I've read this book several times over the years. I always find it refreshing and exciting. I regret that I only have a paperback issue. Highly recommended for anyone interested in Ameican M3 light tanks, British warfare tactics in the desert and leadership in combat.

I got to spend some time in Stuttgart and the Baden-Wurtemburg countryside, courtesy of my Uncle Sam. Nice people, nice places. Got to go to Octoberfest there - an amazing experience. They drink real beer there, not the watered down stuff most American breweries produce. Ummm.
To: colorado tanker
Sam says the same thing about the beer. :-)

One thing that bites almost everyone on any amphib are the gripes (tie-downs) used to secure vehicles. They're everwhere (a vehicle of whatever type could have anywhere from 4-10), and they're always rusty and covered with grease. If you catch one low, you trip and fall on your face, and if you catch one higher, you get a nice grease/rust stripe across your pants that never comes out.

*chuckle*
Okers.
Been busy today.
Got to stroll out yet again in a few moments to help pick up a car.
*sigh*
Oh well.
Life will always go in circles.
