Great post Snippy. I am going to a reunion of my father's WWII ship come August. The guy organizing it was at Pearl Harbor. I am looking foreward to talking with him.

Those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary.

Good morning, Snippy and everyone at the Freeper Foxhole.
We just had a squall line move through with some rain as well as a little bit of lightning. That's about it.
Watching for severe weather in parts of Northern Oklahoma today.

Good morning Snippy, CholeraJoe.
Thanks for sharing your vacation with us. I've been aboard the USS Missouri but have yet to visit the USS ARIZONA. I'd definately take the Hardhat tour. When I visited we we only allowed on the bow and the deck where the surrender documents were signed.
Good job on the thread Snippy. I wasn't aware of any controversy about having the MISSOURI "share" Battleship Row with the Arizonia. My two cents is that the MISSOURI should stay where it is.

Wow! Great pictures! Thanks for sharing them with us. They were so much more personal than the news photos.
I would truly love to go, but this is probably the closest I'll ever get. I would need to be sedated for a flight that long--nerves of Jello. Plus, now they're talking about weighing passengers. Yipes! I can't imagine any lady hobbit ever submitting to that. As I tell Samwise Jr., a lady is never obligated to reveal her true age or weight.

The Arizona was sunk at the beginning of the U.S.-Japanese conflict, and it was aboard the Missouri that the Japanese signed the formal surrender ending World War II four years later. I like the image--this is my fallen brother whom I avenged.
The lesson for the world is don't start with us--you will not win.
My dad served on USS Saratoga (CV-3), one of millions of America's sons and daughters drawn into something larger than themselves.
For all of them, God Bless.
