Thanks for the pix! Those motor pools sure look empty, but it won't be long now before the 4th returns home.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, I had the distinct privilege and honor of commanding C Company, 2nd Bn., 34th Armor, 4th I.D., the "Ace of Spades."

This is wonderful PsyOp. She's lovely. I can't believe after all she says about being fired at and shelled that she follows it with "For the most part, things are pretty calm."

My goodness. I know you're a very proud dad!

Things must be better at Ft. Lost in the Woods. When I was there for basic we had the WWII two story wooden barracks. :-)

More than I can say. I'm also a very nervous one these days. I read those reports of attacks a lot more closely these days. I know she's excited about being there, but I'd be just as proud if she weren't over there, in spite of my support for the war.

But, she's smart and resourceful, so I'm sure she'll do alright. Besides, she's one of the best marksmen in her unit (38/40 scored), which is probably why she was tapped to be the 1st Sgt's driver when she's not checking gas masks and chemical detectors.

You're welcome. And I will. As she writes and sends photos back, I'll post updates here so people can get her view of how things are going over there.

Good afternoon tanker. You should put some of your information on your FR homepage.

Yeah, most of those are gone from active bases. At Hood, she shares a room with one other soldier. No open bays. Today's troopies don't know how good they have it. I've shown here some pics of how I lived at Basic at Ft. Jackson. She couldn't believe it.

Fort Sill has gargantuan multi-wing multilevel barracks that they called "Battlestars" for the inductees to live in for the duration of torment, er.. training.
There's admin offices and such in the very middle of the huge building, with the training barracks occupying each starfish arm like wing radiating from the center.

You're probably right, Snippy. When I switched from lurker to FR member I decided to keep things anonymous so I could spout off my extreme hard right wing views and use all the sarcasm I wanted. But I think most folks around me have already figured out I'm a member of the VRWC!

Zynthia is serving as a member of the 1st Cavalry Division, which recently deployed from Ft. Hood, TX.

Cool. Check out post #20 for pictures from my tour of Ft. Hood yesterday. Thank your daughter for her service.
