Never heard it called that, but yes. That's why girls have to wear (should wear) the arm guard. Our arms rotate when we hold a bow. OUCH!

I wore a leather one under a sweat jacket.
Sounded quite amusing to hear it slap the arm guard when I loosed the arrow.
Missed the target because I a.) jumped - and b.)started laughing.
