"Able Fox Five to Able Fox. I got a target but ya gotta be patient." The Panther was a little better than some others about absorbing damage. Not that they wouldn't necessarily be knocked out but the crew might have had a little longer- measured in seconds- to get out before fuel and ammo cooked off.
But if that artillery cartoonist Mauldin jokingly called for connected, the result could have been expected to offer results similar to the following Panther hit by a 100-kilogram aerial bomb.
