Tough read for me today.I know Sam. I considered that and always do, not just for you but for a few other members of our Foxhole "family".
It hurts a lot of our hearts for different reasons, yet we have to cover the subject to keep it alive in others.
Thank you Sam for serving.

They are Vietnamese DC-3's. The Vietnamese President was visiting Soc Trang when that picture was taken. We didn't realize it took so many aircraft to haul him and his entourage around. We were a little put out because his aircraft were blocking our way into "the reservation", our revetment area. Our callsign was Warrior thus our revetment area the "the reservation". :)

The crowd is not bothersome. Have you ever been in a catherdral when something awe inspiring was going on? You know the quiet, the stillness, the sacredness of experiencing something bigger than yourself, larger than this time, this place? Maybe you experienced that feeling looking at the night sky or viewing down from a mountain. That feeling of sacredness is what the monument evokes...everyone there is in their own time and place.

I think you should go if you get the chance. I've never seen the traveling wall. What is it made of, and how do they move it around?

...everyone there is in their own time and place.Thank you both for sharing your experiences at The Wall. My only memory of the area is that even from afar it is a moving sight. Someday I hope I'll get up close and personal with it.

The Moving Wall is made of sheet of steel, painted black, and set on a frame at the same angle as the original. It's half scale.

It's made of some kind of laminated boards. It was taken apart into panels and moved by truck.
