Good morning, Darksheare. Yes, I was thinking the same thing as I read about Donovan. Military intelligence agencies had and have a lot of legitimate gripes about OSS and the CIA, but the Pentagon powers have been too politicized and interested in hanging onto power to use good sense.
I guess it's too much to expect them to act always in the nation's best interests which is why I'm glad Rumsfield is riding herd on them. It's scary how careless with our lives the powerful federal bureaucracies can be.

What is extremely sad: It became profitable to politicise intel and intel operations.
Especially during the Clinton years.
We relied more heavily on electronic wizardry instead of keeping human intel assets in certain places.

I didn't know anything about Donovan before reading this thread, thank you for everyone's input. It is a shame how politics more often than not forgets or rather ignores what is best for this country. Donovan certainly led a facsinating life and had our interest at heart.
