Hi SCDogPapa.
Most of the history we learned concentrated on the East or the Mississippi River Campaign. Until I did the thread on Olustee, I didn't know there was any major fighting in Florida.

There was some pretty vicious fighting between Kansas Jayhawkers and Missouri guerillas. There was also some stiff resistance to the eventual Union occupation of Missouri.
The Union advances on the Mississippi seem to have kept the trans-Mississippi Confederacy mostly a backwater in the war, however.
