Although I liked Gettysburg better, Gods and Generals is an excellent film. I wish they could have covered more, they had to skip some of the major actions covered in the time the movie takes place.

There is a real lack of good "War between the States" movies

I was disappointed in Gods and Generals, Sam. The film ignored Antietam, probably the decisive battle of the war. It was also imbalanced, covering little of the Northern side except for Chamberlain. The pace was slow and it seemed poorly edited.

I did laugh when I saw Ted Turner and Bobby Byrd pretending to be Confederate Generals. But then, they might have been just as good as Joe Johnston, or Beauregard or Bragg!
