We went for 4 days without running water once when our pipes froze. 6 people at the time. Luckily the local gas station let us fill up buckets of water to use for cooking and flushing the toilets and at least washing. A friend let us come over and take showers. That was not a fun 4 days.

We had a BAD ice storm right at Christmas time in '98 that knocked the power out in my neighborhood for 5 days. Pretty much the entire town was without power. I had running water but it was COOOOOOOLD.....I was living in an all-electric apartment then. I could at least flush and all but no showers! I've never enjoyed a shower as much as I enjoyed the first one after the power was restored. LOL!!!
The pump that broke down had rocks in it from a cave in on our property apparently. Lots of small caves in the area. Next bit of "fun" we could have here could well be a sink hole opening up! There have been several in the area this year.
