The terms republican/democrat, right/left, liberal/conservative are distinctions without a difference in current jargon.

The only meaningful difference is between those who believe in the original intent interpretation of the Constitution and those who do not.

Those who believe in the Constitution believe in individual liberty.

Those who ignore or rewrite the Constitution do not believe in individual liberty.

This is the only difference which matters.
