The Illinois Republican Liberty Caucus met today, Sat, Feb 8 at Leona's Hillside Restaurant. We had lively discussions on many issues, and on methods to effectively communicate those issues.
I hope everyone enjoyed meeting each other. Certainly for me the highlight was meeting face to face friends with whom I have chatted on the web for a long time.
We had 15 people present from Springfield, Peoria, DeKalb, Warrenville, Palos, Evergreen Park, LaGrange Park, Berkeley, Streamwood, Hanover Park, Chicago, Niles, North Chicago.
Joe Hedrick, Jack McInerney, George Kocan, Bill Hogan who had just come from the ICRC - Illinois Center Right Coalition meeting reported on it. Jeff Trig commented on Libertarian Party activities and invited us to the LP Convention the weekend of Feb 28.
I invited everyone to the Lincoln Day Dinner Sun, Feb 16 1pm, at 2401 Higgins. Hoffman Estates where Peter Fitzgerald is the featured speaker. (2 blocks East of Barrington Rd on Higgins.)
I encouraged eveyone to get involved in a local race for the April 1 election. People who don't have a favored candidate in their own area are encouraged to help areas that do have races.
Joe Hedrick welcomes us to Niles. I invited people to help in the Schaumburg-Wheeling area for our Harper College candidates. There was general agreement that to support Libertarian Party candidates such as the one in Bufalo Grove if they are the best person.
Everyone was invited to post events and links in our chat that they would like people to attend or support. We also encouraged people to check out www.illinoisleader.com and www.freerepublic.com . LP and Citizens for Education Freedom sites were mentioned and will be posted in the future.
Future RLC meetings were discussed. Many of us already attend many meetings. There seemed to be general agreement that we could cooperate with other groups and attend their meetings. Jack McInerney invited us to the TapRoot Meetings. A notice of their next meeting will follow. They meet monthly 8 am Saturday morning for breakfast at the Lombard Old Country Buffet on Roosevelt Rd.
Others are invited to post comments on the discussions (too numerous to cover here) and where they would like to see us go from here.
GOP-Liberty-Illinois@yahoogroups.com is open to everyone. In posting opinions. Please avoid vulgarities and ad hominen arguments. And unlike me, keep it short.

I urge everyone to get active in a local campaign for the April 1 elections. If you don't have a good race where you live, go to a nearby community that does.
I love to chat on the net as much as anyone. But the only thing that counts is getting our voters to the polls on election day.
