The problem now is that since there was no conclusive video from Ferguson, people are going to think that it was covered up, and this cop is only going down because it was caught on video and the Police can wriggle out of this one.
Should be “and the Police CANNOT wriggle out of this one”
Which is a fair point, actually. While the grand jury was certainly correct in concluding that there was no probable cause to believe the officer committed a crime in Ferguson, there was a lot of conflicting testimony (on all sides) in the Ferguson case, and no conclusive video. I don't think you can say 100% one way or the other whether it was a good or bad shooting, and cases like this are going to make people question Wilson's version of events (and officers' versions of events in other shootings). If the officer in this case lied and planted evidence, and would have gotten away with it absent the video, then of course people are going to suspect other officers, in other cases where there were no videos, of doing the same.
There could have been conclusive video from Ferguson and people would still have thought there was a cover up. Just like people around here can watch that video and say, "Let's not rush to judgement. There's more to it than the video shows."
