The RevPac event I attended on Monday night was an quite an experience. First of all, the choice of setting seemed designed to highlight some of the recurring themes in Ron Pauls presidential campaign. While most of his primary opponents have held Manhattan fundraisers targeting donors in this citys ever-dwindling, yet still potent, financial services sector, the rigidly anti-corporatist, free market dogma of the Paul campaign-highlighted by the appearance of bearish Euro Pacific CEO Peter Schiff-lent a new dimension to what would otherwise have been a routine campaign fundraiser.
The optics of the event were pleasing, which I suppose was by design. Even on an ordinary day, the South Street Seaport, bordering the nearby Financial District, is one of the pleasing parts of New York City. But on the cusp of Christmas, one of the more beautiful historic districts in Manhattan really comes to life.

Not sure whether you’re a Newbie or Retread, but Ron Paul is not a candidate who will garner support on this forum. Sorry, but them’s the facts.
Prepare to be hassled about this. Countdown: 1, 2, 3...
IBTZ!
Disagreement is the spice of life.
To quote Shakespeare, words, words, words... Paul has 30 plus years as a career politician accomplishing nothing but talk and slamming a lot of Pork on bills.
wRong Paul hearts OWS. And vice versa.
But, Ron Paul is from the government and he is here to help.
No thanks.
“Paul has 30 plus years as a career politician accomplishing nothing but talk and slamming a lot of Pork on bills.”
Interesting comment from you considering Ron Paul was awarded the designation of “Hero” by the Citizens Against Government Waste

He is also highlighted annually in their Pig Book as being a major porker. The hero award is due to his constant No votes but doesn’t account for his adding in pork or the fact he hasn’t actually passed legislation to do anything.
“He is also highlighted annually in their Pig Book as being a major porker. “
Really? Here’s the list of CAGW Porker Awards. I don’t see him listed as a major porker. Please back up your claims.

$11 million for 2010. Big deal.
There are more years than fiscal ending 2009 (2010 book) which was light for him.
He is on track for 2011 book to hit almost $400Million in pork (taken from his own website).

Paul is crazy - like a fox when it comes to pork.
He puts his pork into amendments on bills sure to pass and then votes “NO” so he can say he voted against it, but get it all the same.
Paul really does have his cake and eat it too.
Here are Ron Paul’s earmarks

Again, I wonder why Citizens Against Government Waste gives Ron a “Hero” status. Because he is not a big spender.
Earmarks make up less than one half of one percent of the federal budget.
Even if you eliminated every single one it wouldn't make any dent in the budget deficit, let alone the national debt.
Merely an indicator of his true character.
The part that isn’t totally out of touch with reality (that’s a very, very small fraction) is untrustworthy.
I think you will find that it’s a retread.
