Ron Paul: Our Liberties Come From Our Creator

At the Faith and Freedom Coalition conference, presidential candidate Ron Paul used the Bible to show evangelicals why big government is bad and how their fight to protect faith and family are all rooted in liberty.

Paul roused the conservative Christian crowd on Friday as he recounted the story of the Israelites and their pleas for an earthly king. He used that story, found in 1 Samuel chapter eight, to explain to the faith conference why big government is morally wrong for America.

He told the crowd that the Israelites had a perfectly good family system prior to their first king and did not need a governing authority to care for them.

In the Bible, the prophet Samuel advised against a king, enumerating the problems that arise if the Israelites did so. Paul loosely paraphrased those problems to illustrate the dilemmas that exist when you have a government that is taking power from the people.

"He says the king will take your young men and the young women to be used in the government. They're going to tax you. They're going to over burden you and you're going to have to work so much time, like 25, 35 45 percent of the time, for the king."

Samuel's thinking, he noted, was astute advice for then and now. Paul maintained that by demanding the American government to provide assistance for broken families, job creation and more, its citizens have essentially appointed a king over themselves.

Making a few good points on a single issue does not detract from the fact that Paul is a kook.

Making a few good points on a single issue does not detract from the fact that Paul is a kook.

And compare this to the current president, who makes no good points on any issue. By that measure alone Dr. Paul is a far superior candidate for president than 0bama ever will be.

The first question I had when reading this is;

By saying that Israel doesn’t need an earthly government is Ron Paul here alluding to his own desire to see the end of Israel?

He makes statements about them not needing an earthly government? With his anti-semitic background of supporting and appeasing terrorist nations and terrorist’s rights it makes me wonder.

No one else running understands the limits placed on the federal government by the constitution like Dr. Paul.

There fixed it for you. The Founders never advocated for the strict isolationist vision of the pervert Paul and specifically gave the power of Commander-in-Chief to the President and not the Congress. The Founders would be appalled of the pervert Paul and his vision to treat homosexuality as equal to heterosexuality in our Armed Forces. The Founders would have strongly admonished the pervert Paul on his support for Iran's quest to gain nuclear bombs and for his support of a Victory mosque at Ground Zero.

I prefer an atheist who is anti-terrorist, pro-market, pro-life, pro-family values and who is not the kind of atheist who targets just one religion out of spite while defending Islam, to a Christian who is either a socialist or soft on terror or who is anti-family. So I see this as a sign that Ron Paul has gone off the deep end.

Other than not realizing that the Fed can’t be audited by the President, that he supports $400 million in earmarks and believes that ethanol subsidies are a good idea. Right...he is our guy (sarc)

Ron Paul supports ethanol subsidies? I would like to see a cite for that, if you can. Presidential candidates always campaign on things they will accomplish while in office - it does not mean that they literally believe their office has the power in and of itself to do it. The earmarks is a legitimate argument. However, there is no one running that would request less money, and advocate for the elimination of entire departments, except for Paul. Can you name someone that would be better on the budget?

Yes, Cain, Palin, Bachmann, et al, would do better on a budget. Why? In Palins case, because she had to set them and stick to them while governor, and Cain, because of his extensive business background. Paul is a hack, who says one thing and does another...he has been doing this for 30 years while pulling the wool over people’s eyes. Besides, he was just appointed as Head of the Monetary sub-committee...this gives him the power to do the things he wants (audit the Fed, etc). Why would he want to give this up for a diminished leadership role as President?

Just look on this site a 2012’s for ethanol...you will see his support for the T. Boone Pickens boondoggle, and his “explanation” for this support.
