I just read an article that will appear in the Feb. Texas Monthly and did not realize that Perry is a former Democrat congressman who turned Republican when the state started going that way. I’ll try to find it again and post the URL as I’m not sure how to search before posting articles.

I know you all are on the other thread on this topic but I’ll help you a little on Perry.
Perry was bred/born a democrat in Paint Creek Texas. His dad was an elected democrat. Perry got into politics after he failed as a farmer in Paint Creek and was a democrat. During his progression to changing to the GOP in 1989 he was the 1984 Mondale for President cordinator in Texas and in 1988 he was the same for Al Gore.
