Recently Congress sent the latest Farm Bill to the president. The bill features brand new federal programs, expansion of existing subsidies, more food stamps and more foreign food aid. This bill hits the taxpayer hard, while at the same time ensuring food prices will remain elevated. The president vetoed the bill, citing concerns over its costs and subsidies for the wealthy in a time of high food prices and record farm income. Nevertheless, this over-reaching, government-expanding Farm Bill will soon be law.

Dubya finally getting a veto right. It’s a shame House Republicans have overridden sound policy on this one - too frightened they’re going to lose their jobs in November - so let’s throw other people’s money at already wealthy farmers.
It’s to be expected from Dems, but Repubs continuing to chow down on (non-existent) government funds at this stage in the game ranks as pure hypocrisy. I thought pork-barrelling was over ? Still, McConnell got some subs through for the horse-racing industry in Kentucky as part of this bill............Makes me want to gag.
Good for Bush - shame he has no sway over his party in Congress any more.
He actually got several of them right but people are too busy squealing their BDS to notice anything they do right.
What a weird day. I find I agree with W, Ron Paul, and MNJohnnie all at once. My head’s gonna explode. I need to go outside and grill something.
