Most of the other candidates are out of money.
Soon it will be only Romney, McCain, and Paul.
The time is coming for them to pick their VP picks. I am willing to bet the first might happen before Super Tuesday in an attempt to get a bump.
The buzz I have heard is around the following potential picks
Mark Sanford, Gary Johnson, Judge Andrew Napolitano, John Stossel
Of them all, I think that Judge Napolitano would be the best pick, from a pure ticket perspective.
I know his foreign policy isn't popular on FR and this post will likely attract a lot of noise from a handful of people dedicated to shouting the Doctor down.
However - he is a Republican candidate, he has the funds to go until the RNC, and it will be time to announce his VP pick soon. Before anyone suggests it, it's not going to be Kucinich. ;)
So think about this - he is the only candidate left in the race (assuming Fred drops out later today, which he likely is doing), Paul is the only candidate left that is anti-amnesty, pro-2nd amendment, anti-abortion, and for limiting the size and scope of government.
Like I said - I'm hoping it's the Doctor and the Judge.
Anyone else hearing any noise?
Read you own post #53, where YOU brought up the GWB reference.
***Paint dries faster than JC Watts speaks.***
Well, I guess he doesn’t add value. LOL
I don't think I've heard that term since Jim did the ol' bot-boot of '07.
Unfortunately, I don't know enough about any of these men to form an opinion.
I do recognize that the choice of VP running mate will have an effect, so he'd better pick well.
Sanford and Napolitano are both outstanding. Sanford is one of the few potential running mates which might cause me to cast a vote for one of the three remaining schmucks left on the GOP side.
So was Ronald Reagan "silly" back in 76 when he named Sen. Richard Schweiker as his running mate when he ran for the GOP nomination?
No, I think it will be Judge Napolitano, a great patriot.
Probably Walter Williams.
While they disagree on Iraq and some aspects of the so-called war on terror, they are in agreement on economics.
Williams is a good balance to Paul. Ron Paul has a tendency to lecture, much like a college professor, while Williams, who IS a college professor, better relates principles to the guy on the street, and he’s a bit more polished than is Ron Paul.
you fredtards are a gas LOL
Willaims would be fantastic - I love the guy...very well reasoned
your family members dont count
humblegunner: Yeah, lots of folks think that.
Thank you, humblegunner, for making a very simple point that so many people don't seem to get. They hide their heads in the sand. Even Ron Paul thinks Iran isn't a threat.
That's the sort of thinking that brings us things like 9/11.
No, thanks. Ron Paul and his cult seem clueless.
You shouldn’t talk that way to your daddy.
just yer momma
Please realize thaat most Thompson guys (myself included) don't have this cognitive-dissonance-fueled hate for Paul, and many of us are looking for a new candidate now that it appears that Fred is dunzo. Honey, vinegar, etc.
No more than any of us Paul supporters have any animosity for Fred Thompson.
Let's face this issue: People will look back on the 2008 Republican Party Nomination (all candidates) and say "Whaaa??"
Honey, vinegar, etc.
Flies are dirty, and people only catch them to kill them.
Nobody is looking for flies here. We're looking for voters, and if we can't do that on the issues, then why bother playing "how to win friends and influence people"?
You can do it on the issues. Look at how many freepers have come to appreciate Paul after reading about him here on FR. Conversely, I can not recall any freeper going from liking Paul to disliking Paul as a result of the race-baiting and gay graphics by the Paul bashers.
Face it, a lot of Thompson supporters are in the same boat as me. Annoyed that Republicans are so stupid that they'd keep the four bums currently surviving in the race in longer than Fred, and ready willing and able to cast a f$%&-you-GOP-establishment vote. If y'all were smart, you'd be courting us.
