As with the subject matter of this thread. That was then...
Don't count Chris out. He won't give up.
Have to give Paul credit. His campaign maintains the whole misinformation, deception theme. Congratulations on the goal—spend TWO months peppering supporters to donate—process all the donations in one day—and get 30 SECONDS of popular media attention for A SINGLE DAY BLOWOUT.
Amen.
Regarding resisting the State, it is important to note that many Christians fail to grasp what Rom.13 is speaking about.
Many are willing to accept any kind of tyranny over them saying that it is of God.
That chapter gives the definition of what constitutes God's will for Government, to punish the wicked and protect the innocent.
A government that does the opposite, is not of God and the Christian owes it no allegiance.
The only question is what type of resistance is feasible at the time.
Remember we began our resistance against the Crown with passive resistance, simply ignoring their laws.
It came to active resistance when they tried to disarm us.
Now, many Christians simply say that we ought not to resist any government, but when you look at God's laws, they go outward from marriage, to the family and then to the State.
The State is instituted to defend the marriage and family, not attack it and when they do, they cease to be a legitimate government and can be fought against, since they are in revolt against God.
This is why pacifism is an abomination (Quakers) since a man has been given obligations to defend his wife and children and he cannot shirk that responsibility.
In the United States, a pacifist is allowing someone else to defend his family while maintaining a veneer of piety.
As for the issue with Cromwell, you Presbyterians seem to have as many differences among yourselves as we Baptists do!
For a moment, I thought I had clicked on "DUmmie Funnies"...
Demanding objective goals is considered 'funny'?
What was the declaration of War that included defined goals, and what constitutes victory that we wrote for WWII?
Unconditional surrender of the Axis powers.
I don't recall ANY War that had a defined script, and that's the argument usually posted by peacenik's on DU, and other loonie leftist blogs.
Wars do not have scripts but they do have objectives.
If you believe the Jihadists will not kill every American they can find, anywhere in the world, in the name of Allah and for no other reason than we are "the infidels", you are dreaming.
And there is something new about this?
Has Islam changed in the last few years.
Weren't these the same guys highjacking planes and murdering people in the Olympics etc.
The question is not who they are, but who we are.
Are we commited to fighting them and destroying them no matter where they are?
Or are we going through the motions and have other goals in mind?
Leave that poor horse alone, it looks like it is sleeping not dead!
Why don’t you just close the thread? By the way you spend anytime in the military? Marine Corps myself. Birthday coming up Nov 10th. Also be ready for Dec 15-16th as a Ron Paul two day fund raiser is planned and a goal of 10 million has been set.
Free Republic supports the troops & the war. Now Jim and the Mods were nice enough for us Paul supporters to let us post on his Forum and have our fun, so I wouldn’t aggravate them.
Felt very offended by post 218. Am, and have been a Republican for may years. But don’t go for this attack mentality being used. Peace.
Thank you for your service, by the way.
I see a lot of debate on here, the paul campaign did some research which may help shed some light on this (sorry it’s garbled cuz coppied from a PDF):

Mitt Romneys Claim
There have been reportsi that Ron Pauls fundraising total from November 5th was beaten by Mitt Romney earlier this year. However, FEC reports do not agree with the $6.5 million figure given by the Romney campaignii. Mr. Romneys April 2007 filing shows an actual number of $3,143,404iii.
Hillary Clintons Claim
There have also been reportsiv that Senator Clinton raised $6.2 million on June 30th.
The most commonly cited figure for largest fundraising day ever is John Kerrys $5.7 millionv haul on the day he accepted the Democratic nomination in 2004. It is curious that no press release was issued by Ms. Clintons campaign for breaking Mr. Kerrys markvi.
We were curious as to these figures, so we did a little research into the FEC reports. It is strange to us that Ms. Clinton reports her three largest fundraising days to be March 31st, June 30th, and September 30th the three closing days of each quartervii.
News reports show that around the end of June, Ms. Clinton held a fundraiser with Warren Buffet in New York City that raised roughly $1 millionviii. A fundraiser was also held in Hollywood at the estate of grocery store mogul Ron Burkle which brought in $2.6 millionix. On the weekend of Friday, June 29th and Saturday, June 30th, it appears that Ms. Clinton was campaigning in Florida with Raul Martinez. Ms. Clinton reported raising $1.4 million from her 14 Florida eventsx. Some of this was later returned, per FEC request.
While each of these events were successful, all of them did not take place on June 30th. It appears very plausible that the money brought in from these events were all tallied on June 30th, despite taking place earlier in the week.
Cheers.
