What will your candidate do to reduce the size of government?

" . . . his [Paul's] actions strengthen the agenda of radical socialists."

That comment makes no sense whatever. In fact, it is the opposite of sensible.

Ok, one quick legitimate question.

The guy has been running for more than a few cycles. If his powers of reading the “wave” are so good, where was his win in 92 or 96 or 2000 or whenever? Where is his Senate seat? Surely he would have wanted that at some point.

I am just trying to understand the reasoning.

Straw polls among fringe republican groups visited by and/or made up of a large number of True Believers is definitely a sign of progress.

The fact that Paul was the majority leader by far in a straw poll among a sub group of the NFRA tells you that they didn’t even get their own members on the local level to the event based upon their nat’l level vote for Hunter this year. Some 300 or so attendees at some fundraiser isn’t representative of the populace at large as evidenced by the disparity in the vote between the local and national meetings. Paul will do well in this type things but when the rubber meets the road he’ll be sucking hind teat.

He lost his Senate race against Phil Gramm in 1984. He lost his first 2 Congressional races as well.

What does that have to do with anything I said.

I’ll regret this later so I’ll bit.

My guy is Fred, he is a strong believer in Federalism. I am sure he will try and examine ways to reduce certain sections of the government. I know he wants to simplify tax code or change the system is some plausible way. I do know he is not prone to crack pot ideas that lead to trying to jerk hard to the right when the country is not ready for it. That would not happen anyways, because radical changes scares the straight, and you come off looking like some crazy goon. Doesn't get you very far.

Reality has to met this crap somewhere.

Yes. I want our government to have the tools it needs to fight the enemy. The law enforcement and intelligence community participated in crafting the Act. Before the Patriot Act, the government had more tools to fight drug dealers and criminals than they did terrorists.

Absolutely! We can now say that RP has amassed over 200 True Believers in Strafford County, NH,... Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

...and more behind the woodshed as well.

You really think he will be the nominee? I hope so and will vote for him in the main election, but should he not be the GOP nominee I will vote for whoever is. I would happy with Duncan Hunter, Huckabee, or Romney, but McCain or Guiliani I just can’t see voting for either.

Iraq will make or break the election, depending on what happens there and on which party you’re in. The Democrats need us to lose, more than they’ve ever needed anything.

Ron Paul’s cut and run message is exactly what they want because it’s exactly their agenda and they see it as dividing the Republicans.

My tagline comes courtesy of another of Dr. Ron Learys intelligentsia.I must point out again the irony that Dr.Pauls supporters can’t take a joke, yet they support one for President.

Don’t you know that straw polls only matter if Willard spends millions of dollars to win one?

It is time for a Ron Paul The status quo has failed this country miserably and the 3rd way “new right” neoconservative policies have been tried and are failures, and indeed, are threatening the foundation of bedrock American principals. Ron Paul thought we should have left Iraq after the “Mission Accomplished” victory celebration. At that time only about 12% of the people agreed with him...now 70% agree. Hammering him on his war stance here does him little harm. He has been consistent all along about his position. Once again, it is the American people who have come to see things his way.

I wonder how the other candidate's will find a way to backpedal on their “we must police Iraq” when it becomes obvious that no one with that platform can win.
