Ron Paul won big earlier today in Alabama. He also won big in New Hampshire this afternoon.
Dr. Paul received 208 votes (73%) for a landslide victory against Mitt Romney today at the Strafford County, New Hampshire straw poll. Romney received 26 votes. Mike Huckabee came in third with 20 votes.
Tancredo (8 votes), McCain (7 votes), Cox (5 votes), Hunter (5 votes), Thompson (5 votes), Giuliani (3 votes) and Brownback (1 vote) finished the field.
As noted earlier, Ron Paul received 216 votes for a commanding first-place finish in a straw poll today sponsored by the West Alabama Republican Assembly. Mitt Romney came in second with 14 votes.
The poll was open to Alabama residents.
Humor that mocks man? No. Humor that mocks God? Yes. For shame on you.
Phil, your responses that I have observed paint a very interesting picture...
Thanks, I’ll take that as high priase.
Oh, I'm quite aware of its absurdity. If you want a better answer, however, you'll have to articulate your criticisms of Paul and his campaign rather more explicitly. Calling him "...a JOKE" is rather difficult to rebut with any kind of precision.
Yeah, THAT'S what Paul pins his national security hopes on... [rolls eyes]
This is political analysis of the Rush Limbaugh school. Inventing vaguely clever-sounding epithets to put down a candidate you don't want to see win...it's worthy of grade school. You should be proud.
Oh, and by the way... ARE NOT!!!
And before you answer with the “isolationist vs interventionist” mime, I know about that. I see from many post over several weeks that Paul Supporters want to bring home our troops from most of the places they serve right now. Those troops act as a bulwark against our enemies away from our shores. They also help to defend and protect our friends and allies who in turn provide us with information and support. Pulling out in a world with planes, missiles and weapons that almost reach "slaughter" potential (or not) is blatantly reckless.
That depends on how you define "slaughter"; the rational view or the True Believers view? :)
I’m thinking no less that 2 million myself. I can’t live up to Uncle Joe’s standards...
I'm thinking 3. The term 'slaughter' seems to fit what those two out-on-bail convicts did to that poor family in Cheshire, CT. Works for me, anyway.
Going back to Dictionary.com's definitions, it's pretty much up to the user as far as numbers go. Though some True Believers would disagree :)
I think we need a chart...
Here ya go...
Well, maybe not the one you were thinking of, but it's a slaughter chart. Hey, I'm quick if not accurate.
Damn, can’t see it behind the firewall...
Self inflicted wounds are the worse...
I will stay home before I vote for one of the Bush/Clinton RINO clones that the GOP is serving up.
I did not want McGovern or AlGore or John F'n Kerry to win either. They were also antiAmerican antiwar types who resembled the east end of a horse heading west just as much as Captain Queeg/Dr. Demento does. Such candidacies are a source of fun for those inclined to make fun of them. Guilty! Guilty! Guilty! AND proud of it.
PaleoPaulie’s heresy is his absolute desire to buttsmooch our Islamofascist enemies so we can TRADE!!!! with them so that the lions will lie down with the lambs or whatever.
You left off neener, neener, neener...
Hmmmm. We have Annie Coulter and Laura Ingraham and Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity and Mark (The Great One) Levin and you guys are stuck with Alex Jones and Air America's antiAmerican antiwar moonbats of the airwaves wherever they can still afford to broadcast by defrauding Boys' Clubs and such tactics. That certainly helps explain the taste of ashes experienced by paleos everywhere.
I certainly am proud since I have been working at conservative (the actual kind) movement efforts for more than forty years now.
Being a political shock jock isn't the same thing as writing for the Cato Institute. I've heard more cogent arguments in defense of Republicans out of Gore Vidal (believe it or not) than I'll ever hear out of Limbaugh, because thinking and elucidating those thoughts isn't Limbaugh's schtick. He's an entertainer. A talented entertainer, but an entertainer nonetheless. What he does isn't analysis, it's cheerleading.
You want to do that, go right ahead. I can cancel you out by going "YAY RON PAUL! YAY RON PAUL!"
Conservatives should shout at libertoonians as Ludwig von Mises shouted at Ayn Rand in 1961: "So, you're the silly woman who thinks you can have freedom without God!..." Fifteen uninterrupted minutes of von Mises's vocal derision of la Rand later, she fled the room (and the conservative movement permanently) in tears. One of the very best efforts of von Mises, one of our movement's greatest thinkers.
