Ron Paul won big earlier today in Alabama. He also won big in New Hampshire this afternoon.
Dr. Paul received 208 votes (73%) for a landslide victory against Mitt Romney today at the Strafford County, New Hampshire straw poll. Romney received 26 votes. Mike Huckabee came in third with 20 votes.
Tancredo (8 votes), McCain (7 votes), Cox (5 votes), Hunter (5 votes), Thompson (5 votes), Giuliani (3 votes) and Brownback (1 vote) finished the field.
As noted earlier, Ron Paul received 216 votes for a commanding first-place finish in a straw poll today sponsored by the West Alabama Republican Assembly. Mitt Romney came in second with 14 votes.
The poll was open to Alabama residents.
Wow! That’s a lot of name calling in one short post. Have you bested your old record?
Guess we know where reason is absent and absolutism rules...
I can’t imagine a Paulie cherry picking things, I stand aghast..
Another True Believer..
I believe the government must be bound by the Constitution and you don’t.
Message from Ron Paul
Phew, what a week — what a great week in Iowa. But first the important news: my wife Carol had a heart-pacemaker implanted on Sunday, and she is doing much better. She had a scare — me too! — and we are both so grateful for all your good wishes and prayers. They worked. And now she is safely back in Texas.
As I campaigned from morning to night in the August heat the last week, sometimes I’d get tired. And then I’d think of all the supporters, working in Iowa and so many other states, who never stop no matter how tired they are. Could I ever do less? Never. And I never will.
What could be more important than this movement of ours — for freedom, peace, and prosperity? We hold the future of our country, of our children and grandchildren, in our hands. We can never stop, never flag. And we never will.
One old friend compared this campaign to the tortoise, and our opponents to the hare, in the old Aesops fable. The hare was fast and flashy, but because of over-confidence and carelessness, he lost the race. The tortoise kept going, step by steady step, taking nothing for granted, never giving in, never giving up, and winning the race.
In Iowa, we took some good steps forward in our race. Considering the converts we made, the organization we brought forth, and the amount of money we spent as compared to the others, we are on the right trajectory.
And now, after I make sure Carol is well taken care of, I am off to New Hampshire, and campaigning in Texas for our straw poll on September 1 (http://www.texasgop.org/site/PageServer?pagename=Straw_Poll_Home).
This is our moment. Not only because Americans are sick and tired of foreign wars, of the oppressive income tax, of growing restrictions on our precious liberties — but because spending, deficits, and Federal Reserve troublemaking have brought on a global financial crisis that endangers all of us. Now, of all times in our modern history, we need the message of sound money and economic freedom taught to all our people. How desperately we need the truth.
This is a dangerous time for all we believe in. Now, above all, we must spread the truths of the Constitution, of the rule of law, of life, of peace, of freedom, of an America that will truly be a city on the hill.
Join me in doing just that, with your most generous donation (https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate/). We have a country to win.
Sincerely,
Ron
The "New" "Faux" conservative movement will have none of that, right jonesie! Blackbird.
If you guys are so impressed with 200 post threads about Dr. Demento/Captain Queeg, run Jane Fonda next time. She’s rich and probably wants her taxes cut. She is a much longer term enemy of our country than paleoPaulie who came later to that persuasion. She is far better known than the pipsquaek. I’d say that she would get 1,000 posts per thread. Easy. And she would be no more and no less likely to be nominated by the GOP for essentially the same reason that we tend not to be favorable towards those who buttsmooch our nation’s enemies. What’s next??? Fonda/Sheehan in 2012?
Sounds like something you'd be in favor of. Go for it. Better yet, call hitlery's campaign and convince them to have her put an "R" by her name, that'd be about your speed. The greatest Political Coup in American History. Blackbird.
BTW, this is the conservative movement and not the libertoonian asylum.
It seems as though you are okay with “little heed” being paid to the Constitution. Can’t even bring yourself to capitalize the C, can you?
Probably not but every ID of the paleosurrender man in my posts is accurate and I will continue to work at it and to succeed.
You’re a man with a mission.

You guys are so simple in your understanding of things. Everything is black and white. In a perfect world, that would be great. In the real world, not so.
I have never dismissed the Constitution, indeed I honor it as the foundation of our Republic. But our Republic is inhabited by human beings and exists in a complex world. The last forty years especially have seen an explosion of abuse, but our 200 year history is full of examples of where the confines of the Constitution have been pushed, pulled and at times completely broken. Do I like that fact, well it depends on the item we are discussing. Just like you I have biases. For example, I fly occasionally. I am damn glad there is an unconstitutional FAA, because I sure as hell would hate to fly on a plane inspected by anyone under the guidelines of the state of Mississippi. I would however love to dump the Dept of Education and I was teacher for a while.
I live in the real world and I have Conservative to extremly Conservitive views, but I don't let that put me into some dream land. To come out and say "By God, from now on we are going to get rid of every instuttion and every piece of federal legislation that is Unconstiutional and from here out only do that which is explicitly stated there in" will get you laughed out of whatever office you occupy and your adherants listed kooks, no matter how correct you maybe. You would be suprised that to a great extent I want what you want, I just want to actually succeed in getting there. That will take time and tact...
That would not be nearly as big a coup as a nomination and victory of L.Ron.
Your house is painted in black and white I bet...
I hate it when you do that. My Shrimp guy won’t be up from the coast until Thursday...
A bet you would lose. Blackbird.
There is no Constitutional authority for the fed gov to be involved in education.
By the way, hows Bush doing with the AmeriCorps? Has he abolished that yet?;^)
2. The constitution was massacred when Lincoln in direct defiance of the 10th Amendment invaded the Confederate States and conquered them.
3. The rule of law is dead in America for a very long time. Roe vs. Wade and its 50+ million dead babies prove that as do homosexualist "rights" decisions such as Lawrence vs. Texas. Try not to make a fool of yourself by pretending otherwise.
4. We cannot very well hold a constitutional convention every time our enemies decide to take advantage of the constitution. We have to do what we have to do. That (may my Irish grandmother forgive me!) was what the British understood with their unwritten constitution. We made the noble effort to shackle government with constitutional chains. It has not worked very well for that purpose and has been used relentlessly by our nation's enemies foreign and domestic and by our decayed elites to undermine the interests of the US and our people.
5. We cannot very well hold congressional (I don't capitalize that either and for good reason) debates over which Hummer should be sent where or over what the troops will have for breakfast, lunch and dinner or which house in Fallujah should or should not have its inhabitants blown away in response to gunfire directed at our soldiers nor should the military be asking Mommy, May I? to Nancy Facelift, Dingy Harry or Comrade Carl Levin or Dennis Cuckoocinich or Dr. Demento. War is too important to be run by anyone but military professionals.
6. The constitution is a means to an end. There are many ends but the document itself is not one of them.
7. Finally, the constitution was illegally adopted. Review the Articles of Confederation and see if, as a "constitutionalist" you can figure why.
