Ron Paul won big earlier today in Alabama. He also won big in New Hampshire this afternoon.

Dr. Paul received 208 votes (73%) for a landslide victory against Mitt Romney today at the Strafford County, New Hampshire straw poll. Romney received 26 votes. Mike Huckabee came in third with 20 votes.

Tancredo (8 votes), McCain (7 votes), Cox (5 votes), Hunter (5 votes), Thompson (5 votes), Giuliani (3 votes) and Brownback (1 vote) finished the field.

As noted earlier, Ron Paul received 216 votes for a commanding first-place finish in a straw poll today sponsored by the West Alabama Republican Assembly. Mitt Romney came in second with 14 votes.

The poll was open to Alabama residents.

They never do. They never will. They will never concede anything. They're True Believers and aren't programmed that way. It's not part of the binder material they've been given and spent 5 days on in a Motel 6 in Pocatello.

To respond to questions is something responsive people do; not robots.

Well, considering that the charge in question is that "...Paul, his supporters, and his candidacy are a JOKE," well, there are two legitimate answers. They are as follows:

1) "ARE NOT!!!" (Hey, make a childish accusation, get a childish rebuttal.)

2) If the Ron Paul phenomenon is such a joke, why are you and a hundred other Freepers working so hard to quash it here on FR? If it really was a joke, it wouldn't be worth your time. Your own response belies the original accusation.

That “True Believers” really fits doesn’t it...

Yup! It explains a lot. I can't count the number I've encountered who fit the profile. Some more than others, of course, but there's a system in play. And, Begorra, I think you found it (BTW, 'Begorra' is quite something for this ol' Kraut to use).

BTW that is a mighty leap you make there, do you even know what I believe in?

Well, if you believe that Ron Paul advocates that the US "leave the world stage," as you put it, you believe at least one falsehood.

Paul is a non-interventionist, not an isolationist.

It’s just fun to get the inmates riled up. Kooks are fun to bait wherever the may be.

Immediate and complete withdrawal from Iraq is foolish.

Try explaining that to the vast majority of Americans who feel an indeterminant and everlasting committment of troops in Iraq is foolish.[Hello, media]

Nixon and McGovern grappled over who would end Viet Nam the soonest. Nixon won. And that was a war with 'troops' on both sides wearing uniforms.

That the 'enemy' won't put on a uniform, means that he's comfortable with the notion of allowing civilian casualties that might otherwise be avoided, were he to organize and do battle as commonly accepted.

What we haven't done is to accomodate the 'terrorists' wishes. And that entails killing lots of innocents along with Johnny Jihad. Therefore, we are playing according to his rules and will not win.

So you equate running away from a fight to Second Amendment rights. That is a strange mix there. It is also a leap from what I said to that. Are all you Paul folks Evil Knievel fans or something?

Well my FRiend you must have a copy of the Constitution that includes domestic shrimp production, That being the case please send it along as my outdated copy does not mention shrimp.

It's apparently in there right next to the authorization for domestic surveillance.

Quash, hell we are enjoying it!

Best entertainment value in America right now....

That answers the “worth our time” question. Do you know what a movie and popcorn costs now days?

Hell this is interactive theater!

Nope. Nothing childish in my post. But yours is priceless.

ARE NOT!!!

You are!

ARE NOT!!!

You have not idea how absurd a response this is from you...

Oh, but it is worth our time. Not as dialog, or a debate, but as an exercise in humor. We're laughing at you. Because that's all you provide; a source of humor. You just haven't figured it out yet. Truther's never do.

The two are in many ways tied together today.

However beyond that, his non interventionist stance is my biggest issue with the man. Ignoring the dangers of the world in the 21st is foolish on a good day.

Hoping several hundred border guards and a fence is enough to protect us from the determined is just plain ignorant.

I don't see why a return to strict constitutional law, under a constructionist interpretation, should be all that controversial at FreeRepublic.

Amazing that FReepers will bash the candidate who supports the Constitution the most on the very website dedicated to defending it.
